	This is a private sector project aimed at carrying out a Social Impact Assessment and preparation of Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Guidelines for a proposed cement plant of Grasim Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group. The site is located at Mahuva of Bhavnagar District in Gujarat. The Capacity of the plant is 3.5 Million Tonne Clinker production / Annum including a proposed Thermal Power Plant of 60 MW. The study Area covers 10 Km including Core & Buffer Zone which includes approximately 35 villages. The project impact area spreads over 1714 Hectares of land.

	Detailed tasks and responsibilities include the following: • Preparation of general socioeconomic profile of the households in 10 Km radius core as well as buffer zone area of the proposed project in about 30-35 villages of Taluka - Mahuva and Talaja, District Bhavnagar • Baseline Data generation including background/ Study Area/ Historical Evolution - details about socio-economic and demographic profiles of the villages, in terms of their population, caste composition, education, health, water, fodder, fuel, credit, employment, migration, agriculture, livestock, infrastructure, transport, communication etc • Assessment of the existing resources base including natural resources, of the area, environmental status and infrastructure facilities in the programme area • Assessment of the impact of the Project on the social and economic lives, including on the livelihoods of the people in the Project area and description of alternative considered • To understand the perceptions, myths, anxieties, attitudes, demands, and extent of preparedness of the people towards the Project. • Preparation of Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Guidelines for project • All the important aspects related to the Social Impact Assessment studies required for green field cement project as per the standard guidelines stipulated by GOI are necessary to be covered
